Presets Not Showing Up In LR CC

1 min read

If you’ve followed the tutorial video showing how to install your presets, but they still aren’t showing up in Lightroom CC, here is the first fix to try!

Adobe is always mixing things up with their updates and so Lightroom CC sometimes won’t import presets if they use a custom camera profile and that profile isn’t in the same folder as the presets. What this means is that Lightroom looks at the presets but doesn’t “see” the profile for that preset, so it just skips it without telling you and you’re left wondering why it isn’t working. Who knows why sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, but if you’re having issues, this is the first thing to try!

Basically, you just want to move all the LR Profiles for each collection into the LR Presets folder for that collection. Now restart Lightroom, and when you follow the steps to add your presets, LR CC should be able to “see” the profiles and import properly!

Give this a try and restart Lightroom. Hopefully it does the trick! If not, here are a couple other things to check!

Possibility #1 – If installing the presets as usual isn’t working, you can try going into Lightroom’s menu and selecting File > Import Develop Profiles & Presets and navigating to the folder containing your presets & profiles.

Possibility #2 – The presets are actually installed, but you’re not able to see them! This happens sometimes in Lightroom.

To check if this is the case, go to develop module in Lightroom, then click on the “Manage Presets” under the Import preset dialogue.

See if the presets are on the list, and make sure they are checked so they will be visible and not hidden

Possibility #3 – If you’re on an old version of Lightroom (Lightroom 7.2 or below) your software is not compatible with xmp presets. This is unlikely unless your version of Lightroom is 5+ years old.

If you’ve tried everything here and still can’t figure it out, feel free to send a message to hello@signatureedits.com with screenshots of the problem and as many details as possible, and we’ll do our best to help!

If presets show up in Lightroom but appear to be “greyed out” or don’t work when they are clicked, it is most likely because the color profiles weren’t imported properly. Make sure you have imported BOTH the develop presets AND the color profiles into Lightroom’s preset folder, otherwise the presets will not work properly.

Double check you have both the Profiles & Presets installed, and 99% of the time this will fix things! If you still need help, send us a message :)

Enjoy your new presets!
